Meet Mike

MARRIAGE AND FAMILY THERAPIST, MA, LMFT
Based in Austin, TX

So, you’re looking for a therapist? Someone you, or someone you love, can talk to and trust? Someone that isn’t super weird, but that isn’t stodgy? (Good word, right? I think it shows I’m super NOT stodgy and just the right amount of weird. I was an English major. Fancy, right?). The point? You need a therapist and I know how to listen, to help and even how to throw in a few fancy words here and there. As far as I can tell, that’s pretty much a match made in heaven.

I’m more than just fancy words. I have a background in education, where I began to understand how much I love seeing growth in others, not just academically, but personal and emotional growth, as well. This led me to study at Northcentral University where I earned my Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy with a specialization in Child and Adolescent Family Therapy (don’t worry, I love working with adults too).

Finally, a bit of wisdom a friend once shared with me. He said, “life is failure.” At the time, I was hoping for comfort, and I thought he missed the mark. But the more I thought about it, the more I wondered… did he? As Winston Churchill said,

"Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts."

Growth and change are a process, not an event. Failure, or, more accurately, the speed bumps we view as failures, aren’t dead ends, they are opportunities to find a new direction. We learn from them, we adjust, and we keep going.

See? I told you I wasn’t stodgy. Now let’s talk. I’m ready if you are.
